The remnant mandrel is the part of the mandrel that remains in the hollow rivet and can take on an additional securing function depending on the application.

Blind rivets - Terminology:

• The residual rivet mandrel is the part of the rivet mandrel that remains in the hollow rivet. The remaining mandrel is the part of the rivet mandrel that is torn off the set rivet using a blind rivet setting tool.
