Which calibration interval is the right one for me?

Choosing the right calibration interval plays a key role. As a producer, you want to keep the risk of incorrect measurement as low as possible, whilst simultaneously keeping track of economic factors. The optimally selected calibration cycle can ensure the quality of the testing equipment and thus ensure themeasurement. In accordance with relevant standards, the calibration must be certified at regular intervals. Many companies start with a calibration interval of 12 months. Depending on the frequency of use, quality requirements and wear, the interval may however be reduced or extended. The company that uses the measuring tools is responsible for regular recalibration.

The following criteria can help you specify the correct calibration interval:

  • Frequency of use and wear.
  • Operating conditions and characteristics of the testing equipment.
  • Environmental influences such as temperature.
  • Quality requirements of customers and standards.
  • Recommendation from the manufacturer.
  • Experience with similar testing equipment.
  • Consequences of consequential damage to defective testing equipment.

Use a professional service.

Our experienced employees recalibrate your measuring tools or testing equipment, and send them back to you safely packaged. You can track the current status of your testing equipment in our online portal.

You can find the current status of your testing equipment at: ho7.eu/dsp.calibration

Calibration certificates

Your calibration certificates are saved centrally and can be called up as a PDF at any time for 10 years. With us you have peace of mind – we do not pass any data to service providers. In addition to the official calibration certificate from our partner Trescal, you will receive an information sheet containing all important data.

Kalibrierung
  • What are the differences between factory calibration and accredited calibration (DAkkS, BELAC)?

    Accredited calibration (DAkkS/BELAC calibration certificate):

Accredited calibration laboratories are linked directly to national standards by means of reference standards. DAkkS (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle or German Accreditation Body) and other European accreditation bodies assess, confirm and monitor the professional competence of these bodies as independent institutions. We ensure processes are reviewed on a regular basis and implement our calibration processes properly in terms of measurement, which means you can rely on your measuring results.

In addition to German accredited calibration laboratories, we also cooperate with e.g. Belgian accredited calibration laboratories so we can also issue the certificate of the Belgian accreditation body (BELAC certificate) in exceptional cases.

Thanks to multilateral agreements concluded by the ILAC and the EA and the accreditation bodies of the various countries, the DAkkS calibration certificates and BELAC calibration certificates are internationally recognised, valid and audit-proof. This avoids the need for costly multiple accreditations.

    DAkkS accreditation certificate (PDF)

    Advantages of accredited calibration:

    • Utmost reliability and the highest standard below national standards
    • Valid/recognised internationally
    • Subject to state regulation
    • Can be traced back to national standard directly
    • Mandatory for all companies in the automotive industry and its suppliers in accordance with the IATF 16949:2016 standard

    Factory (ISO) calibration certificate

Factory calibration is a cost-effective alternative to accredited calibration (e.g. DAkkS). It can be traced back to the factory standard (not to the
national standard as with an accredited certification) and meets the required standards in many areas.

Our calibration partner’s laboratories always work in accordance with DIN, which ensures that the calibration and samples can be traced back whilst meeting the highest standards.

    Advantages of factory calibration:

    • Attractively priced
    • Quick
    • Can be traced back to national standard indirectly

  • When do I need an accredited calibration (DAkkS, BELAC)?

An accredited calibration is necessary when the result of the calibration must be traceable to the national standard and be recognised on an international level. DAkkS calibration is also recognised in court. Furthermore, since September 2018, IATF 16949 prescribes DAkkS calibration for manufacturing activities in the automotive sector.

  • How often should measuring tools be calibrated?

It is usually up to the Quality Management department in a company to determine how often a measuring tool should be calibrated. As well as using cycles or frequency of use to determine the time of recalibration, it is advisable to have measuring tools calibrated after incidents, e.g. if they have been dropped.

  • What accreditations does Trescal have?

All common DAkkS calibrations that we already offer today can continue to be offered. With more than 780 accreditations worldwide in 28 measurement variables, Trescal has a unique portfolio of accreditations.

All laboratories adhere to the standard in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 without exception. This ensures that the calibrations can be traced back. Since quality is top priority for Trescal, the quality management systems are based on DIN EN ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025.

You can find all of Trescal’s accreditations in each country and location here

  • Where can I find my calibration certificates?

In future the calibration certificates will be made available digitally. You can call up all your calibration certificates in digital form whenever you like in Connected Metrology Free. You only need to register once at the start and you will then have access to your calibration certificates at any time.

The calibration certificates are stored by Hoffmann for at least 10 years.

  • To what address are the calibration certificates issued?

Due to the increased requirements of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and customer requirements, we will in future pass on to external service providers only the most important customer data which is required to provide the service. For this reason, all calibration certificates are issued to “Hoffmann Supply Chain GmbH, Poststr. 15, 90471 Nuremberg”.

This calibration certificate will include an information sheet containing the key information such as customer address, calibration certificate number, overall result, image and product data, so that you can view all relevant information at a glance.

  • Is there still a flat-rate processing fee for an order value of less than 100 euros?

In future we will dispense with a flat-rate processing fee. In exceptional and urgent cases you can also send us a small number of units. In general, however, measuring tools should be grouped for recalibration.

  • Are the assignment of a serial number and labelling of the measuring tool free?

The assignment of a serial number using a data matrix code (adhesive sticker) is free of charge.
Additional customised labelling must still be paid for.

  • Can you supply us loan boxes for transporting the measuring tools free of charge? How much do they cost?

We provide the Hoffmann Group system boxes which we use for the regrinding service free of charge. If you already have this system box, you can also use it to send measuring tools. The Hoffmann Group system box is free for you. We do not require any loan fees.

If you already have a Perschmann Calibration transport box, please return it to Perschmann Calibration.

  • How much does it cost to collect system boxes?

The goods will be collected from you free of charge within 24 hours. The return delivery after calibration has been performed is free of charge from a net order value of 150 euros.

Please use the free shipping label and delivery note to ensure your order is processed faster. You can find them under Downloads.

Save valuable time by using our pick-up and delivery service. By using our rental boxes, you can rest assured that your measuring tools will be transported quickly and reliably. Once your measuring tools arrive at our calibration laboratory, they are first prepared for the calibration and brought to the right temperature. During the calibration, the measuring tools are checked using specialised processes and, upon request, calibrated in accordance with VDI and DAkkS. The outcomes and potential deviations from the test standards are evaluated and documented in a calibration certificate. After the calibration, we send the item back to you safely, together with the calibration certificate.

Here you will find the right calibration service for you.

Incoming tools

You send us your measuring tools via a free collection order. Once in the Goods Receipt department, they are recorded and transferred to our partner. From this point on, you can check the status of your measuring tools in Connected Metrology Free whenever you like.

Ready to start for the future!
We assign your tools a serial number free of charge using a Hoffmann unique ID.

As different materials are subject to natural linear expansion, the measuring tools must be brought to the correct temperature before calibration. To guarantee that the calibration conforms to the relevant standards, we bring them to the correct temperature in our air-conditioned dimensional laboratory at precisely 20.0 (+/- 1) °C.

What are the differences between factory Calibration and DAKKS Calibration?

Akkreditierung
Akkreditierung

In Germany’s largest calibration laboratory, it is not just DAkkS calibrations that are possible, but also factory calibrations.

In contrast to DAkkS calibration, factory calibration can only be traced back to the factory standard, and not to the national standard. As a result, on an international level, factory calibration is not recognised by every user.

Our accreditation by German accreditation body DAkkS allows you to have the greatest confidence in our services. We ensure our processes are reviewed on a regular basis and implement our measurement-related calibration processes properly, which means you can rely on your measuring results. The calibration guarantees traceability to the national standard. Sources of error such as hysteresis, repeatability and measurement deviation, as well as the expanded uncertainty of measurement and traceability are checked and documented. In terms of uncertainty of measurement, DAkkS calibration is, therefore, often more precise, more comprehensive and internationally recognised.

Advantages of DAkkS calibration:

  • Very high reliability
  • International validity
  • Subject to state regulation

trendic® 3.5 – the new measuring tool management and calibration software – provides you with innovative possibilities. Through the use of a specially developed unique ID, measuring tools become “talking measuring tools” within the context of Industry 4.0. By scanning the code on a tool, trendic® 3.5 provides you with all the information about that particular measuring tool, which helps you to manage and observe relevant dates for the calibration work. trendic® 3.5 considerably reduces time and costs when it comes to measuring tool management.
