General structure

With Connected Manufacturing you can manage and maintain your entire stock of tools.
Hereby we distinguish between Tool assemblies, Cutters, Base holders and Intermediate holders, that have been imported from the CAM System, or have been created by the Tool Configurator.

Tool assemblies often consist of different components, like a base holder and a cutter.
You can filter for Complete Tools as well as Components.
For Components, you can filter for cutter, base holder and intermediate holders. In addition, you can filter for items from the Hoffmann Catalogue.

Every Tools that is physically present within the production facility should be managed with Connected Manufacturing. This is called a “digital twin”.

By “Complete Tool Types” we mean tools that have been imported from CAM, and are located within the software – an imported, digital tool assemblies.
By “tool assemblies” we mean tools that are physically present within the production facility – a cutter with a base holder.

A “Component” is considered either, a cutter, a base holder, or an intermediate holder.

To each Tool Type you can add single, physical instances to document the actual tool inventory. Here we speak of “Inventory” and “Instances”.
This way you get a simple and clean overview of the tools within your production facility – their status, availability, and location.
