Lots of challenges, one solution – the new GARANT “4-in-1”
Our new multi-functional turning tool and drill bit

We’ve found the perfect solution – a worthy multifunctional problem-solver for our GARANT family. It means individual and series components can be produced cost-effectively and efficiently. Tool-changing and set-up times are minimised and the cost-benefit ratio is maximised.
A simple tool for simple components.
Available in:
- the lengths: 1.5 x D / 2.25 x D
- the diameters: 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 / 20 / 25
Overview of “4 in 1” applications:
1/ Longitudinal turning
2/ Drilling into solid material
3/ Internal longitudinal turning
4/ Facing
Special features of the GARANT “4 in 1”
1/ Ideal cooling, 2. Optimum stability, 3. Large choice of inserts, 4. Blind changing of inserts, 5. There is only a contact surface with version 2.25 x D

Ideal cooling
Not all cooling is the same. Water may be one of the
most commonly used methods for extending
the service life of indexable inserts, but the water does
not always directly reach the cutting edge.
This is not the case with our “4 in 1”. Thanks to the 3 targeted
coolant nozzles, the chips are removed directly
from the bores. The direct coolant nozzles on the insert ensure
complete “flushing” of the insert with cooling lubricant.
This ensures optimum service lives and chip evacuation.

Optimum stability
A solid foundation is needed to achieve
optimum stability. Our “4 in 1” has a specially hardened shank.
Strength and dynamics are optimally coordinated.
The small indexable insert ensures that there is enough
carrier material to counteract the radial and
axial forces which occur during the turning and drilling process.

Large choice of inserts
Constantly changing between a wide range of materials is not
uncommon for contract manufacturers. The choice of indexable inserts should also
be just as broad.
We offer a wide selection of different varieties and
substrates in order to make the required service lives, surfaces and tolerances possible
for every task and every
material.
To make your choice easier, we have a
“first choice” variety in both steel and stainless steel.
These have been specially designed for the “4 in 1” applications.

| Description | All-round insert for “4 in 1” standard machining operations in steel. Reliable complete machining of PVD coating ensures wear resistance | Indexable insert for longer service lives, primarily for longitudinal turning Thin CVD coating for wear protection | Indexable insert for difficult interrupted cutting PVD coating increases the service life, even in difficult cutting conditions | Indexable insert for higher service lives, primarily for longitudinal turning Wear-resistant PVD coating in combination with sharp cutting edge version | All-round indexable insert for “4 in 1” machining operations in stainless steels A thin PVD coating and a tough medium-grain substrate enable reliable complete machining. | Standard aluminium indexable insert for all “4 in 1” applications Indexable inserts are uncoated | Indexable insert for aluminium in all “4 in 1” applications An extremely thin PVD coating is intended to maximise the service life, for example in aluminium with silicon alloy |

Blind changing of inserts – it’s this simple
Stop paying attention for just a second and you’ve mounted the insert
wrong.
Not here... Thanks to our positive clamping system, the
insert seat is precisely defined due to the nose on the holder and the
groove in the insert. Changing blind is no problem here.
