- Regardless of the climb height, the following applies:
- As a fall protection, the back protection is preferable to the climb protection (combination not allowed, since the rescue of persons is hindered by the back protection).
- Occupational health examination of the suitability for height (e.g. G 41), the necessity depends on the risk assessment (e.g. total climbing height, type of fall protection) of the respective ladder systems
- Proof of the load-bearing capacity of the subsoil must be provided for each construction project by a responsible stability expert
- Passageway lock (safety door) is always required
- If the access situation requires it, suitable protective devices (e.g. steel end doors) against unauthorized use must be provided for ladders with climbing protection
- For lateral oversteps, the conductor parts must be guided higher
- In the case of multi-section conductor cables, the overlap of the back protection must be at least 2,000 mm.
- At unsecured exit points, guardrails mounted on both sides of the ladder or guided into the exit level are required
- Exit gap must not be greater than 60–75 mm
- Accumulation dimension: Distance from the entry level to the first rung 100 – 400 mm. The top edge of the top rung must be at the same level as the running surface of the exit point
- The gap dimensions between the ladder system and the railing must not exceed 120 mm
- The connection to the climbing protection must be established and disconnected from a secured stand
- A secured stand, for example, is a pedestal with a railing and secure access
