Highest honour for GARANT at the German Innovation Award 2023

24 May 2023

The GARANT brand has once again demonstrated its strengths, as the German Design Council awarded the GARANT Master burrs and the GARANT swarf protection with the highest honour – the German Innovation Award Gold. The products won out against 650 submissions from 22 countries in the “Excellence in Business to Business” competition class, “Machines & Engineering” category. Within the same class, the GARANT torque analyser HCT was the “Winner” in the “Information Technologies, Industry Specific and Service Software” category. The German Innovation Award recognises products and solutions from different industries that primarily distinguish themselves with their UX design and the added value they provide over existing solutions. https://www.german-innovation-award.de

GARANT Master burrs were developed for use in the metalworking industry. They are used wherever steel, stainless steel, aluminium and non-ferrous metals are machined with manually guided electric tools or in an industrial robot cell. The all-rounders generate about 30 percent less vibration than conventional burrs and are particularly free-cutting. The results are plain to see: better surface qualities, 50 percent longer tool life, 25 percent higher metal removal rate and up to 60 percent greater cutting performance. The unique combination of higher cutting performance, ergonomics and user friendliness impressed the jury. The burrs together with the new GARANT swarf protection were chosen by the jury and the latter is sure to cause a stir in the industry in their opinion.

The GARANT electronic torque analyser HCT, as an additional product from the GARANT brand, also emerged as a “Winner” of the competition. The Bluetooth-enabled device checks the precision of torque tools with a tolerance of plus or minus one percent and it saves up to 1000 measured values with a timestamp as well as 20 configurable test cases. Additionally, it automatically assesses measurement data and optionally sends it to a computer in CSV format via USB cable or to the HCT mobile app via Bluetooth. It also offers additional special system capabilities in combination with HCT-capable torque tools, as the display now shows the torque tool’s measured value at the same time as the analyser’s value. What’s more, HCT torque wrenches that have been locked due to overload can be unlocked again using the analyser. In the future it will also be possible to feed the data into a quality assurance system (CAQ) via the HCT Windows app. Before starting work, the torque tools can then be checked using operator guidance and the results documented together with information on the component.

Hoffmann Group Connected Tools (HCT)
The Hoffmann Group is promoting digitalisation in the tooling sector through the open Hoffmann Group Connected Tools (HCT) platform. Currently compatible with the HCT platform are Bluetooth-enabled vernier calipers, dial indicators, external micrometers, torque wrenches, torque analysers and 3-point internal micrometers under the GARANT, HOLEX, Mitutoyo, Bowers Group and Sylvac brands. The circle of notable brand manufacturers expanded most recently through the connection of the wireless system Tesa TLC, via which vernier calipers and height gauges under the Tesa brand can send measurement data to the HCT mobile app.
