The GARANT Master Tap Alu masters all tapped holes in aluminium and non-ferrous metals.

A reliable solution for all aluminium and non-ferrous alloys: the GARANT Master Tap Alu tap

6 Dec 2023

A newcomer in the GARANT Master tool family for high-performance machining is making tapping in aluminium and non-ferrous alloys even more efficient: the GARANT Master Tap Alu. The specialist tool prevents coiled chips and material adhesions, machines all aluminium alloys and non-ferrous metals reliably and is also suitable for automated production. The GARANT Master Tap Alu has the latest generation of ultra-smooth DLC coating and impresses due to its exclusive geometry. It is available in various designs – in the form of a blind hole tap with dynamic helical pitch and lead chamfer form E, and in the form of a through hole tap with extra-long neck for thread depths up to 4xD. The HSS-E-PM tool material provides it with the required wear resistance and ensures a long tool life.

Machining companies now no longer need to stock different taps for aluminium wrought alloys and high-strength aluminium, as the new GARANT Master Tap Alu can reliably machine all of these materials as a general-purpose tool.

The easy-cutting tap with exclusive geometry forms consistent and easy-to-control chips. In the case of blind holes, these chips are evacuated reliably through the dynamic helical pitch – this maximises process reliability as no coiled chips are produced. The short lead chamfer form E enables thread tapping almost to the bottom of the hole. Defined cutting edge preparation counteracts micro-chipping and ensures the quality remains consistent from the very first thread. On the other hand, the through hole tap impresses due to its flute geometry with extra-long chip grooves and long neck which is free of cutting edges. It therefore reliably produces threads up to 4xD usable depth.

No matter whether it is used on aluminium or aluminium wrought alloys, the GARANT Master Tap Alu reduces machine downtime and process interruptions. It is perfectly suited for automated production thanks to these characteristics. The specialist tool is available now through the eShop, as well as through the Hoffmann Group’s 2023/2024 catalogue.

The GARANT Master product range was started by the Hoffmann Group in 2015 with the aim of providing particularly powerful and reliable tools for high-performance machining. In addition to the GARANT Master Tap Alu as a specialist tool, there is also the GARANT Master Tap Steel HT for difficult-to-machine steels, the GARANT Master Tap INOX for stainless steels and the GARANT Master Tap for general-purpose applications.
